How to Improve Your Air Conditioner’s Performance

Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 at 11:00 am

air-conditioner-outdoor-unitHow do you keep cool during the summer? Most of us move from one air-conditioned space to the next, and with all that wear and tear on your AC, your system may start to misbehave. Perhaps, it’s already starting getting a bit louder than normal. Or perhaps you’ve noticed a sudden, unexpected rise in your energy bills. You may even be concerned as your AC moves past the 10-year mark.

The first call should be to a pro technician, like those on our team. That’s the quickest way to a resolution. There are some powerful ways to improve your air conditioner’s performance.

Get a Tune-Up

For those who’ve already gotten theirs this season, we commend you. You’re on your way to improved performance already. For those who haven’t: it’s never too late! (Although, the longer you wait, the greater the risk of breakdown…) The only thing better than a tune-up is a routine HVAC maintenance plan, which will set you up nicely in the years ahead.

Keep that Air Filter Clean

The air filter is the easiest way to improve performance. If you notice that your AC is lagging, then take a look at the air filter. If it’s full of dust and other particles, then swap it out for a new one. Your AC’s internal components thank you in advance.

Upgrade Your Thermostat

If you’re still using an older model that you have to adjust manually, now is the time to upgrade to a smart or wifi thermostat. Doing so has several benefits: remote control via smartphone, excellent programmability (set it and forget it), and also more accurate control over your indoor climate. Sound good? Let a pro install it for you so that it works as it should.
